To ensure the success of your cold email marketing campaigns, it's crucial to deliver your messages to your contacts' inboxes and avoid being classified as spam. To achieve this, you need to conduct regular email spam tests and evaluate the deliverability of your emails.
I prefer to use GlockApps for this purpose. In this article, I’ll describe this process step by step.
1. Signing up for GlockApps2. Setting up a new test3. Creating a new campaign4. Importing email addresses from Glockapps5. Creating an email copy6. Setting up the schedule and launch7. Checking the report8. Taking action9. Conclusion
The Glockapps part
Step 1: Sign up for GlockApps
To begin, you need to create an account. For your initial tests, a paid plan is not necessary, as GlockApps offers 3 credits per month (= 3 tests) in the free version.
Step 2: Set up a new test
After logging in, you'll find yourself in the GlockApps dashboard. To run a new email spam test, click on the "Start Spam Test" button, then select "Start Manual Test".
Next, choose the spam filters. By default, all of them are selected, and I recommend keeping it this way.
The next steps are pretty straightforward. Choose the folder where you'd like to store the report (the default is “Home”), add a comment if needed, and click “Create.”
You can enable or disable the link checker, depending on whether you plan to use the link in this test campaign. However, I’d like to highlight that it’s best not to use any links in your cold email campaigns.
The next tab displays the ID and emails addresses.
The ID should be pasted into your email so that the tool recofnizes which test your email belongs to.
Make sure to copy ALL email addresses (there’s a scroll, and the total number of email addresses is more than 50).
That's all for the GlockApps side; now, let's move on to the email marketing tool to send the campaign (I’ll use Instantly, but you can use whatever tool you use for cold campaigns).
Step 3: Create a new campaign
After logging in, create a new campaign for the test purpose.
Step 4: Import email addresses from Glockapps
Instantly allows you to simply copy and paste the addresses, which is quite easy, while some other tools might require a CSV file. Ensure that you import ALL the email addresses provided by GlockApps.
Step 5: Create an email copy
I don't recommend sending a blank email or an email with random text. It's best to craft a copy as close to your actual cold emails as possible.
REMEMBER to paste the test ID into the email copy.
Step 6: Set up the schedule and launch
Configure the schedule for the campaign for the same day, with a range of a few hours (it's better not to send all 57 emails immediately).
There you have it!
Step 7: Check the report
Once all the emails are sent, GlockApps will process them and provide a detailed report on your email's performance. This report includes information about your email's spam score, inbox placement, and the rendering of your email in different email clients.
To find the report, go to Inbox Insights -> Reports.
Keep in mind that, in addition to deliverability data, GlockApps provides content analysis and action step recommendations, so be sure to check out those tabs as well.
Step 8: Take action
Review the results of your email spam test carefully. If your email has a high spam score or is not performing well in email clients, it's time to take action. Make necessary adjustments to your email content, subject lines, sender information, or any other element that may be affecting deliverability. Test your email again after making changes to track your progress.
