Spintax (short for "spinning syntax") is a syntax format used to create variations of a specific piece of text. It is commonly used in content marketing and SEO to generate multiple unique versions of an article, blog post, or product description. However, I’m going to share how to use this approach in email communications, especially cold email outreach.
One of the things that affect the performance of cold outreach is how similar the emails sent from the server are. The more they differ from each other in terms of content the better. The standard set of personalization (that everyone uses) includes the recipient's name, company name, and maybe an icebreaker (if you have done more research). Therefore, most of the emails are almost identical.Spintax can fix it, at least in a way.
Instantly.ai - in Instantly, I can just copy-paste like this:
It randomly picks the value from the array of options.
Lemlist, which I use daily, does not support such RANDOM, but it has a more robust feature — Liquid syntax. It looks pretty complex at first sight:
Spintax requires a lot of imagination, and there are some free spintax generators on the web — you can enter words and generate options. But my best helper in this is ChatGPT.
I can ask it to generate, for instance, options for “Kind Regards”:
Then we can make it with British English (if we contact a UK audience):
Happy spinning!
